Florida International Audio Expo 2024 Show Report By Steven R. Rochlin

  When the Tampa show first began, the word 'International' was not within the name. Thankfully, the show promoters quickly realized the error of their ways. This year at the Florida International Audio Expo 2024 were products from many different countries. Perhaps no single room better showcased this than retailer and distributor American Sound Of Canada with great gal Angie at the helm. Before I post a gear list, let's have fun and see a country list first:

To my ears, there's something about highly efficient hornspeakers that showcase immediacy, speed, and exceptional dynamic swings from whisper quiet to the guy blown away in the Maxell commercial. Avantgarde Acoustics Uno loudspeaker was showcased at the FIAE 2024 in passive form, which is an excellent way to add horns to your existing home audio sound system with ease. There are three different versions offered and they are:

Passive Version
Extremely easy to drive with 109dB/W/m efficiency
27 Ohm impedance.

iTRON Version
Avantgarde Acoustic in-house integrated electronics 
According to the company, "Based on fundamentally different electro-physical laws than any other amplifier on the market. Avantgarde succeeds as the first manufacturer worldwide in bringing the approach of the current amplifier, which is considered to be perfect to market maturity, for a sound that sounds simply heavenly."

Wireless Version
Optionally with integrated network capability 
Direct streaming of content such as Tidal, Spotify, DLNA, Roon, Airplay… plug & play system.
The company describes it this way, "Press play on your phone and enjoy the incredible sound of the TRIO with the new iTron technology. No additional amplifiers, cables, or other electronic devices. Everything is integrated in the modular unit of the speaker." Those Germans do love their precision engineering and generous options.

Pasemation from Japan creates a wide variety of analog goodies such as phono cartridges, moving-coil (MC) set-up transformers, phono stages, both passive and active preamplifiers, vacuum tube power amplifiers, various cables, headshell, etc. I invested some time on their website and came away mighty impressed!

dCS we all know, as it is truly high-performance reference digital audio gear. As for Oracle Audio, I was hoping to see their owner and Chief Designer Jacques Riendeau at the FIAE 2024. One of my very favorite turntables; the best for deep funk, groove, etc in my book is their Delphi turntable. Here are a few reviews we've posted:
