SCORE: A Film Music Documentary Thanks to Gravitas Ventures we have a great documentary about music within movies and how it 'moves' an audience.

This documentary, which earns an impressive 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, showcases Hollywood's very best composers as they give us a peek at the creative process plus the many challenges of creating film music / scores. According to their website, "SCORE is inspiring students around the world to pursue careers in music at a time when funding for the arts is at an all-time low in public schools. An understanding and appreciation for the arts are essential to a well-rounded education in our modern media-saturated world, and the SCORE team is working to encourage students to pursue their passions in music, music education, and film composition."

Before we go into more details, let's thank three-time Emmy Award-winning news producer and documentary filmmaker Matt Schrader, producer Robert Kraft (former President of Fox Music), Kenny Holmes, Jonathan Willbanks, Nate Gold, Trevor Thompson, Crystal Chavarria, and Ryan Taubert (composer) for helping create this excellent documentary. Also big thanks to Epicleff Media production, in association with Film Score LLC and with support from SoundBite Studios, we can now enjoy this documentary gratis.

According to the YouTube description, "What makes a film score unforgettable? Featuring Hans Zimmer, James Cameron, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Quincy Jones, Trent Reznor, Howard Shore, Rachel Portman, Thomas Newman, Randy Newman, Leonard Maltin, and the late James Horner and Garry Marshall, SCORE: A Film Music Documentary brings Hollywood's elite composers together to give viewers a privileged look inside the musical challenges and creative secrecy of the world's most international music genre: the film score."

It goes on to say, "A film composer is a musical scientist of sorts, and the influence they have to complement a film and garner powerful reactions from global audiences can be a daunting task to take on. The documentary contains interviews with dozens of film composers who discuss their craft and the magic of film music while exploring the making of the most iconic and beloved scores in history: "James Bond", "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Titanic," "The Social Network," "Mad Max: Fury Road," and "Psycho."

Without a doubt film music is extremely important, and this documentary showcases the creativity that is put forth into making the very best immersive cinematic experience. As always, in the end what really matters is that you... enjoy the music!
