2001
Before the third group gave their
presentation, there was an auction that consisted of donated items. Magnequest
donated some transformers as did Electraprint plus many other goodies. A Valve
unit from the genius of Doc Bottlehead Foreplay pre-amplifier was auctioned
and it went for $65. Bargains galore at the nyNOISE show! GM70 Russian
transmitting tubes were auctioned off by Mr. Slagal (they sold for $50). Aloha
Audio donated a DACT stepped attenuator volume control and a balance control.
These are awesome as i myself use them in my home-brew passive preamplifier.
They sold for $175. A pair of standard telephone, new in the package 212 tubes
and they sold for $950! A bargain as they can sell for upwards of $3,000. None
other than Joe Roberts of Sound Practices fame donated a pair of Loth-X
loudspeakers (sold for $300).
