The Chester Group's New York Audio Show 2013 -- Saturday

Here is the live music from late yesterday (Friday).

Raidho speakers were here at the Chester Group’s New York Audio Show 2013 with their very high-end fine diamond layer 4.5" midrange/woofer and their own in-house made 1" x 3" ribbon tweeter ($28,000 including stands).

Audio Note Japan’s G-70 tube preamplifier ($35,000) follows Kondo-sans path of handcrafting, silver wire and handmade parts. Internally, the unit is modular with different boards yet still follows the point-to-point wiring (read: no circuit boards with signal traces). Frequency response is a staggering 10 Hz to 240 kHz (+0dB -3dB) and tube compliment is a pair of 6072 and a 6X4. This unit is unbalanced, so inputs and all RCA and there are four state pairs of them. Output is via a pair of RCA jacks.

Here is more eye candy with from Audio Note Japan.

The new Audio Note Japan Kagura monoblock push-pull 211 tube amplifier produces 55 watts (~$180,000). All the usual silver wire, silver foil capacitors, silver hand wound transformers, etc.

The Well Rounded Sound's new WRS WP2 larger speakers ($699 per pair) and they were being driven by the Coco 5i ($500) hybrid solid-state output with tube preamp section that produces 25 wpc. They say the unit also has a very good headphone amp section.

Combak/Harmonix DAP-999 Ex Limited DAC ($12,000) handles 16-bit and upsamples to 24-bit/176.4kHz and they believe that the music is more important than just the race of number of bits and high sampling rates. And rightly so as it is the music that matters!

MIT brought their new Oracle Matrix 120 SHD $27,000 speaker cable. Perhaps some people will have a hard time deciding between these and the $36,000 Transparent Cable version. Hmmmm...

Laufer Teknik model Leonardo model 8 ($65,000) were being played to great results with the 14 wpc TubeGuru The Mig 6C33C single-ended amp ($10,000).

Ummm, er, um... well, this is a, ummmm, a turntable. Yeah, its a turntable and, ummmm, a Discwasher Anti-Stat gun. Oh the stories i could tell you about being the youngest of three boys and the hour after hour of fun you can have with an Anti-Stat gun...

Of course the KEF room was jamming, had great sound, and the Kronos turntable is way cool too! Let’s see, what else is in this room? Oh yeah, they have Chord amplification, Manley Labs amplification... This system gets my award for Most Desirable High-End Audio System To Bring Home To Mother. Ok, it also gets today's Best Sound At The Show Award too.
