Radiojones Radiojones

DVD Label: Starstroke Records

Radiojones will remind you of many bands you have heard before. You know, that is the exact reason I warmed up to their catchy sound so quickly. Familiarity can be a good thing or it can destroy you when it comes to your music. In this instance, it does nothing but give the band another leg to stand on to get your attention right out of the gate.

Their sound has roots rock, blues, and country mixed into it with just enough pop glistening around the outer perimeter, then it all meets somewhere in the middle to make for a crisp, clean, and polished production with 11 solid tracks. The lyrics are thoughtful and at times contemplative, while emotionally moving. Its all about life and love for this band, they sing about relationships and how they relate to each character's life within every story.

"Desperately" is a good example of some their best material. Musically they hit the mark consistently throughout this CD with outstanding musicianship while delivering lyrics like this:

"In every moment the angels are walking…/And if there's nothing wrong, maybe you could tell me why your so afraid/If your so empty maybe I could help you to figure out the day/'Cause I believe in you, even if you don't let anybody in/I still need you DESPERATELY." Lyrics like these are brain food and all the while you cannot stop tapping your feet on the floor and bobbing your head to this great music.

The one song that I felt was extremely contagious was "Try," it has a fantastic strumming acoustic guitar that never lets up, and it sure sounds like it would be a great single to hear playing on the radio-it is the kind of tune that resonates in your mind long after it stops spinning. The entire CD was an enjoyable listen and without fail pleasing, in fact, every track leaves a lasting impression. This self-titled album is the kind of music you are going to want to hear repeatedly, and after a few listens you will be learning all the words, I promise you.

Think of three or four of your favorite rock-pop bands, take one from each of the last three decades and roll them together and you may come up with a sound similar to Radiojones, well, maybe. You have to give this a listen for yourself and whatever you opinion is, you will know one thing when you are through- this is a band you will remember.

Enjoyment:
