Critical Mass Systems , Constellation, J-Corder, AudioQuest, MasterBuilt Audio And Von Schweikert Audio

Highly respected loudspeaker manufacturer Von Schweikert Audio teamed up with Constellation, J-Corder, AudioQuest, MasterBuilt Audio and others to produce great sound here at T.H.E. Show Newport 2016! The J-Corder special Technics 1520 open reel-to-reel tape machine looked super sexy sitting there on the CMS MAXXUM rack / Shelf / Footer system. Meanwhile Constellation's Signus Media player / DAC with Filter upgrade, Virgo III preamplifier with Filter upgrade and Centaur II power amplifiers were put to good use. AudioQuest's specially made Niagra 7000 power supply gave clean current and the system used MasterBuilt Audio's Ultra cables in full-loom version.

Von Schweikert Audio's award-winning VR-55 Aktives ($60,000) featuring ceramic honeycomb woofers and midrange drivers along with a damped Beryllium dome tweeter. They say the measured distortion is less than 0.5%(!) at normal listening levels. These drivers, when mounted on the company's patented Triple Wall Laminate noise reducing cabinet. The actively driven woofer system consists of an on-board subwoofer \ amplifier. Transmission-line woofer loading with sealed midrange and tweeter enclosure round out the design.

As for sound... wow! There was incredible imaging surrounding me. I was also impressed by the wonderful details in depth and subtly in delivery. This was both in obvious and subtle audio cues as the music washed over me as appropriate within the music. When i closed my eyes i could easily sense the air and space between the musicians and the performance hall's acoustics too. System mating is key and all products worked harmoniously together to provide system synergy. There is no doubt this system is amongst the very best, if not the best, sounding room here at T.H.E. Show Newport 2016.
