T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2015 Report
The Home Entertainment Show 2015
Angel City Audio, VPI, Skogrand And Melody

Another great room at T.H.E. Show Newport 2015 was filled with products from Angel City Audio, ModWright, Melody, VPI and Skogrand. Angel City Audio's Seraphim speakers have a stunning wood finish and were hooked up with Skogrand Cables SC Tchaikovsky speaker cables, with Skogrand's SCI Tchaikovsky RCA and XLR interconnects plus SCAC Wagner power cables rounding out the wire configuration. Melody amplification drove the speakers impressively well via a single 845 power tube, with a grand total of 70 watts per monoblock amplifier being fed by the Melody tube preamplifier.

VPI Industries' high quality Aries turntable featuring their 3D printed tonearm has Grado's Sonata Statement cartridge mounted to it. Mat Weisfeld of VPI was busy roaming the halls with his fiancé Jane. They make a lovely couple and both look so very happy together. Mat was kind enough to share a photo he took of Jane and my my wife Heather. Let us all raise a glass to the ladies of high-end audio, and look forward to more female writers and representatives making the rounds at shows in the future.

Skogrand had their new Beethoven power cable ($18,000) at T.H.E. Show Newport 2015 and love the way they look. Internally, they use two each 4mm and 6mm plus 24 AWG UPOCC 5N solid core copper. There are three layers of shielding to ensure external noise it kept away. Ensuing high quality, the wires are carefully scanned to eliminate any grain borders to ensure there is a single long copper crystal.

At my request, the room's host put on Led Zeppelin II LP and it sounded incredibly clear, dynamic and yes vinyl lovers very analog. Love how the tempo and rhythm just flowed from the VPI Aries turntable though the front-end gear to the Melody amplification and, finally through the Audio's Seraphim speakers. Images floated about the room, too. Love it!
