RMAF 2019 Show Report -- Rocky Mountain International Audio Fest 2019

RMAF 2019 Show Report Sneak Peek!

Vinnie Rossi L2 Signature Edition Int. Amp. L2i-SE

Vinnie Rossi's L2 Signature Edition Integrated Amplifier (L2i-SE) features Class-A, ultra wide bandwidth "convertible" directly heated triode (DHT) preamplifier design compatible with: 2A3, 45, 300B, PX4, 101D, 205D, T-100, SV811 and other four-pin DHT families. Class AB MOSFET output stage produces 100 / 175 Wpc into 8 / 4 Ohms using only one pair of output devices. A fully dual-mono power supply design employs multiple patented Belleson super regulators.

For volume adjustment, a discrete 64-step resistor ladder analog control incorporates Pickering England silent reed relays. True active balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs bring ease of use into virtually all audio systems. High quality gold-plated WBT NextGen 0703cu speaker terminals ensure a solid connection.

Unlike the L2 Integrated Amplifier (L2i), which runs a simpler 6SN7 linestage, the L2i-SE inherits from their L2 Signature Preamplifier with direct-heated big power triodes. Only one pair of the finest sounding four-pin, directly heated triodes (DHT) are run in a dual-mono, Class A, grounded-grid topology with zero feedback. They feed a true dual-mono, high-bandwidth Class AB MOSFET output stage making the L2i-SE a DHT hybrid integrated amplifier and, perhaps, the only one of its kind in the world!

There are absolutely no compromises on bandwidth, phase, speed and directness, nor any distracting effects of driver tubes, coupling caps or output transformers to reproduce music with intense spaciousness, harmonic sophistication, liquidity and detail.

In addition, there's an L2 DAC optional module that handles PCM up to 32-bit / 768kHz, DSD up to DSD512 via dual flagship AKM AK4977EQ converters. Digital inputs include USB, S/PDIF coax (BNC with included RCA adapter), and optical TosLink. Fully discrete Class A output stage, FPGA buffer and re-clocking circuitry with Femto oscillators round out this design.
