Hi-Fi Home Run: LampizatOr Horizon 360 DAC & Gulfstream Streamer, Pass Labs XP32 Pre
& X600.8 Mono Amps, Plus Gershman Acoustics Symphoria Floorstanders
This exhibit room showcased a wonderful high-fidelity home audio system built around Gershman Acoustics Symphoria loudspeakers, whose innovative isolated suspension tweeter-midrange modules perched atop the main cabinets immediately drew attention. The speakers’ sculpted white enclosures and elevated modules not only created a striking visual focal point, but also delivered a remarkably spacious soundscape while also projecting imaging that placed instruments and voices with precision.
LampizatOr digital front end: Horizon 360 DAC — $65,000 LampizatOr Gulfstream music streamer — $9,600
Pass Labs XP32 preamplifier — $20,000 Pass Labs X600.8 mono amplifiers — $31,000 Gershman Acoustics Symphoria floorstanding loudspeakers — $70,000
Driving the system was a carefully matched amplification chain anchored by the impressive Pass Labs XP32 preamplifier and Pass Labs X600.8 mono power amplifiers, a pairing that emphasized system synergy, tight control, and ultimate transparency. The Gershman Symphoria floorstanders articulated micro-dynamics and macro-dynamics with ease, thanks in good part to the legendary Pass Labs amplification.
Digital front-end components included a LampizatOr Horizon 360, which is a special vacuum tube and hybrid combo Hi-Res Audio DAC, which was mated with their Gulfstream Hi-Res Music streamer DAC. Cabling and system integration were handled with Cardas cabling, which Enjoy the Music.com knows was chosen for its reputation for accurate, musical sound, and reliability. Note the very careful attention to placement—speaker toe-in (top page pic), etc.
I really enjoyed how this stereo system projected a spacious and immersive soundscape, involving listeners to delve deep into the music. All in all, a truly pleasing musical presentation.
