Another listening experience that truly seemed to place me in the middle of the venue featured Von Schweikert Audio's latest offspring, the VR.thirty (active) with Foundation Hybrid Bass System ($59,000 pr), powered by WestminsterLab's REI Class A monoblock amplifiers ($39,900 pr) and their Quest balanced preamplifier ($32,900). Reinforced by VSA's prototype Foundation.ten Bass Correction System ($TBD), the walls of this modest hotel room seemed to melt away, revealing a performance holodeck of life-like proportions.

Never artificial or emphasized, the frequency spectrum and stage scale remained balanced and in tandem within the dynamic spectra, creating a 3D spatial awareness of the performance venue that wrapped around me, regardless of my position in the room. Combined with the Rockna Audio Wavedream Reference Signature DAC ($26,900), the audio family was simply a match made in Heaven. Well-deserving of a Best Of AXPONA 2025 Blue Note Award.
