AXPONA 2025 High-End Audio Show Report Audio Expo North America 2025 Audiophile Show Coverage

Audio Thrills And Music Chills On AXPONA 2025's Second Floor
Let's continue the audiophile coverage with AXPONA part 10.
Audio Expo North America (AXPONA) 2025 Show Report By Rick Becker

Utopia Lounge  Rhythm Distribution, Goldmund, And Jorma
The hallway of the conference center is rather wide, maybe 40' across, and a football field long. And like in previous years, a rig has been presented at one end or the other. In a space this large, the reflections off any wall or ceiling are going to be long after the initial direct wave hits the ear, resulting in optimal resolution. Rhythm Distribution set up the green Goldmund backdrop, but it looked absorptive, and it was placed well behind the speakers for a greater soundstage depth. With the semi-circular seating, it was a lovely space and sounded quite good.

You had to get up close on your knees to read the label, but that's part of the point with this minimalist system. You really should just ignore the (expensive) equipment shown here and enjoy the music. (My editor loves it when I work that phrase into my copy.)

While there were two components shown on the floor, it really was an all-in-two system as the black one was an AudioQuest Niagara 5000 power conditioner. In front of it was the Goldmund Eidos streamer/server. Confused? That's probably because the other ‘component' was the Goldmund Rhea active wireless loudspeakers.

The Jorma cables take up half the list here, but I see I forgot to snoop around for the Silent Angel Bonn NX network switch, which, as the fine print says, is only needed to further enhance sound quality. The signal transfers wirelessly from the server to the speakers. Years ago, I heard a very modest Goldmund speaker pull off this same trick, back when the technology was first introduced, so Goldmund is not new to this game. The result? Elegant sound plus an elegant presentation. Win-win.

Next Up: The 1st Floor, Expo Hal;l, And Ear Gear Exprience At AXPONA 2025 In Chicago / Rosemont
At this point, I took a seat, pulled out a Clif Bar and my Mountain Dew to take a break before heading downstairs to the 1st Floor for another set of large rooms, plus the Ear Gear Experience and the Expo Hall. There were still several outstanding rooms ahead, as well as some fun and important discoveries. With this warm weather, I hope to be back with Part 11 within a week. Stay tuned!
