The Home Entertainment Show 2004

Las Vegas The Home Entertainment Show 2004 report (T.H.E. Show)

  Sunday

Buggtussel has a new line of value-priced loudspeakers including their Circa ($450 per pair) monitors and the Somu ($1,000 per pair) floorstander. Bother share the same 0.75 silk soft dome tweeter and 6.5-inch poly midrange unit. The Somu add an additional 6.5-inch drier and a pair of 8-inch poly woofers.

Jolida's bargain-priced JD 707A integrated stereo tube amplifier has four inputs, a quartet of 6P3P output that produces 40 watts per channel.

Electrocompaniet's AW 400 monoblock amplifier was driving Overkill Ovations loudspeaker (£20,000 per pair). These loudspeakers use the Manger tweeter/midrange driver that is mated to 11-inch Focal driver for bass.

What does 108 tubes all on at the same time look like? Well... like a pair of Atma-Sphere MA-3 amplifiers.

DeVore Fidelity were playing their Silverback loudspeaker ($12,000) that employs a 0.75-inch dome tweeter, 6.5-inch poly come with phase plug midrange, and a pair of side-firing 8-inch driver for bass. Frequency response is from 27Hz to 40kHz with a rated sensitivity of 91/W/m with a very flat 8-ohm load.

Audio Aero now offers an SACD player with their new Prestige SACD Player ($13,300). It plays both stereo and multi-channel SACD media, has a DSD to PCM bridge for resampling to 24-bit/192kHz. An outboard power supply insures an electrically quiet, stable delivery to the main digital and analog circuitry. There are three analog inputs and five digital inputs, digital output, and both balanced (XLR) and single ended (RCA) analog outputs.
