Stuff Magazine

Stuff magazine's Cassidy was at the show selling copies of their publication. Stuff is filled with reviews and news of various electronic toys and chachkies.

Buttkicker

American company Buttkicker (£599) can be used for those who enjoy listening through headphones, computer users, musicians who rely on in-the-ear monitoring and music/home theatre lovers. This 7"x7" (almost oval) unit does not use a normal dynamic driver. Instead, a stationary inductor drives a high-mass piston-like magnet. Covering the lower frequencies from 5-200 Hz, the Backstreet Boys, the Neville Brothers, Barbara Streisand and other use the Buttkicker to augment their onstage monitoring. A 1000 watt amplifier is also included to "drive" the unit.

Sonneteer were showing their, from top to bottom, Byron 18-bit DAC(£795), all new Campion 30 watts stereo amplifier(£599), and Sedley phono stage (£399). The Byron employs separate power supplies for the DAC and CD mechanism to reduce any interference. Single-bit Delta-sigma are mated with multi-bit interpolation to take advantage of each technologies benefits. The Campion amplifier runs in "Class A/B" using Bi-Polar Junction Transistors to produce 30 watts per channel (two channels). Five stereo inputs and one stereo output are offered. Lastly, the Sedley phono stage can handle both moving coil (MC) and Moving Magnetic (MM) cartridges. The loading impedance and capacitance are adjustable.

Here at Live 2000 were a staggering amount of internet companies. from AOL to Freeserve, World Online, the net and others. There was an amazing amount of diverse internet companies offering show goers software and web services. The internet has really taken hold here in the UK. i recall only a few years back how very few people were web savvy. Today it seems almost old hand.

McLaren F1-600 Amplifier

Seen here first: Above is the world preview of TAG McLaren's F1-600 monoblock amplifier. Boasting 300 watts (1,700 @ 2 ohms), the F1-600 employs a balanced output architecture approach. Bi-polar Junction Transistors were chosen for their sound quality and in being able to dissipate heat more rapidly then the equivalent TO3 output device. Availability is planned for Spring 2001 (no pricing yet). The TAG McLaren representative claims this monoblock is "unconditionally stable" and offers a peak current output of 80 amps! Not to worry about them floating away as a hefty 40 kgs each will keep them firmly grounded. Inputs are via RCA, XLR or (current audio signal transmission technology) C.A.S.T. as developed KRELL Industries. Below is the actual 1999 world champion F1 car. As seen below the F1 car, i was truly honored to see, in person, the actual World Driver's Champion Trophy. As a Ferrari lover myself, i hope Schuey can take it home with him soon.
