Live 2000 Event

Live 2000 Event

Convention Hall

London had two shows happening at the same time in September 2000! Our virtually live coverage of the Hi-Fi News 2000 show and this Live 2000 event kept us quite busy indeed! While the Hi-Fi News show was held at the Novotel Hammersmith hotel, the Live 2000 Event was at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre. A quite large convention hall where there constant droning sound of various presentation and music filled your ears. This Event is more a broad consumer-based show. From home and auto hi-fi to cellular phones, MP3 devices and video games, Live 2000 was most definitely a more "mainstream" show where only a small amount of specialty high-performance audio could be experienced. Still, we at Enjoy the Music.com did find some very interesting pieces. The Event's floor was broken down into five distinct zones. The Warner DVD Experience, Hi-Fi and Home Entertainment, Online Pavilion, Telecoms World, Intelligent Home all offered various consumer products and services. Most zones had sponsors who had very large displays filled with everything from gameplay finals to a car audio competition (by the UK's counterpart of America's IASCA, CSA). Being an IASCA judge myself, i found that the UK seems that the UK autos are right on track with what America currently offers.

Yes, this was most definitely a mainstream show, yet we at Enjoy the Music.com found quite a few "world's first look" for quite a few pieces! Please come join us at many of the sights Live 2000 Event had to offer. As always...

Enjoy the music,

Steven R. Rochlin
