Welcome to Issue #91, an issue that focuses on one of the most important parts of the high fidelity chain, the loudspeaker. We have included several loudspeaker reviews and an updated $ensible Choice list that covers loudspeaker pairs, surround-sound systems, and subwoofers.
Our reclusive publisher, JAH, who has been for too long absent from these pages, makes a special guest appearance in this issue with some commentary on tube equipment and a few other topics. We hope to be offering more commentary from his unique perspective in future issues; keep your fingers crossed... Telarc recently announced that it is dropping the list price on surround-sound SACDs from $25 per disc down to $19.99. We hope this will start a trend in the industry, and that surround-sound SACDs of true musical worth become more widely available, and at a reasonable price, but we are not holding our breath. Sigh...
